SIGOURNEY-Sarah Taylor, age 88, of Sigourney, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Sarah was born near Lancaster, August 15, 1936, to Roy and Louie (Vandament) Seaba. She attended Lancaster School, Sigourney High School, and worked on the family farm. She married Ronald Taylor, January 11, 1959. Sarah worked as co-owner of Taylor Radio & TV; a bookkeeper for Occo Feeds; a custodian for the Sigourney United Methodist Church, where she also served as finance secretary for several years; a sales clerk at London Fog and Benetton at Tanger Outlet Mall in Williamsburg, and as a cook at Teet ’n Tobes in Keswick. Sarah served several years as Secretary for the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers’ Mutual Benefit Society and was active with the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers’ Association during Ron’s years as a rural mail carrier.
Survivors include two daughters: Valerie Taylor Hill (John) of Fairfax and Brinda Taylor Porter (Don van Krieken) of Ankeny. Two granddaughters: Carlyn Hill of Meridian, Idaho, and Laine Dentinger (Kevin) of Wheaton, Illinois; and great-grandson, William John. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Bernadine Gordon, brother Dean Seaba, nephew Roger Fritchen, and son-in-law Mark Porter.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
