Sarah Mae White, age 77 of Wellman, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, of complications after surgery at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman with Pastor Don Ridenour officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m Saturday in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, IA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. Friday, July 23rd at the funeral home. She is survived by daughters Linda Polson of Knoxville, IA; Roberta McConnell of West Chester, IA; sons: Richard White of Wellman, IA; and Don White of Sigourney, IA; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren: sisters: Sharon Smithburg of Delta, IA; Lois Hinton of Washington, IA; Pauline Smith of Unionville, MO; June Clay of Arizona City, AZ and Beverly Vest of Wellman; brothers: Robert Milford of Brighton, IA; Ralph Milford of Smyrna, TN; and a sister-in-law Ruby Sumpter of Moulton, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son David Alan White; a daughter Gloria Jean White, and 9 brothers and sisters. Mae was born on October 30, 1926 in Cincinnati, IA, a daughter of Ray R. and Bessie Van Blaricom Milford in Cincinnati, IA. She was united in marriage to Robert Frank White on August 24, 1948 in Centerville. She has lived in Centerville, Ottumwa and in Wellman since 1971. She worked at the Red Lion Inn in Ottumwa, the Washington County Home, Captain's Table in Washington and Kalonial Townhouse in Kalona. Mae enjoyed her WWE wrestling on TV and working crossword puzzles. Robert preceded her in death in 1972. She lived 77 years, 8 months and 20 days.
