Sandra J. Pollock, 72, of New London, IA, died Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 18th, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Henry County Health Center Foundation. The daughter of Harold T. and Wilda M. Hester Snyder, Sandra Jean Snyder, was born February 15, 1939, in Burlington, IA. Sandi was a 1957 graduate of New London High School. On October 4, 1960, she married Richard L. "Dick" Pollock in Memphis, MO. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2011. Following high school graduation, Sandi was a school secretary. For the next 25 years she nurtured children through her in-home day care. Sandi also worked at various restaurants, at times in a management position, and she owned and operated Electric Donut in New London. Prior to her retirement, she was a switchboard operator for Iowa Wesleyan College. Spending time with people, especially family and friends, was Sandi's favorite pastime. She provided a loving home for her cats. Sandi appreciated the warmth of the sun as she worked in her yard and flowerbeds. A devoted Elvis fan, she loved ice cream and a good cup of coffee. Sandi was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and attended New London Christian Church. She was a member of Women of the Moose in Mt. Pleasant and the V.F.W. Ladies' Auxiliary of New London. Sandi is survived by a step-son, Steve Pollock of Little Rock, AR; two brothers, Jerry (Susan) Snyder of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Robert (Delores) Snyder of Muscatine, IA; a half-sister, Cindy Billings of Burlington, IA; three sisters-in-law, Chris Hester of Chagrin Falls, OH, Sharon Snyder of Muscatine, IA, and Iva Snyder of New London, IA; and brother-in-law, Raymond (Harriet) Pollock of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Sandi was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Wendell "Fuzz" Hester, H. Thomas Snyder, and Dennis "Abe" Snyder; a sister-in-law, Janice Snyder Farnsworth; a niece, Jorene Snyder Wood; and a nephew, Gary Snyder.
