Samuel E. Williams

Samuel Edwin Williams was born March 20, 1964 in Dixon, IL the son of Edwin and June (Swanson) Williams. He has lived in Goshen, IN, Albuquerque, NM, Wellman and Kalona. He graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1982. On June 16, 1984 Sam was united in marriage to Cindy Detweiler at the Kalona Mennonite Church. Sam worked for Schlabaugh and Sons for 28 years. He was a member of the Kalona Mennonite Church and the Andy Wilcom Trio. Sam enjoyed music, playing the guitar, harmonica and other musical instruments, he also enjoyed archery and loved nature. Sam passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 51 years.

Sam is survived by his wife Cindy Williams of Kalona, two daughters: Sharayah Williams of Albuquerque, NM, Tiana Williams of Lawrence, KS, his father Edwin Williams of Kalona, a brother Daniel (Debra) Williams of Goshen, IN, and a sister Amy (Jeff) McArtor of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his mother June.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Kalona Mennonite Church in Kalona. Rev. Scott Swartzendruber, Rev. Randy Detweiler and Rev. Howard Keim will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kalona Mennonite Church where family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8. A memorial fund has been established for Sharayah and Tiana education and family expenses. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is caring for Sam and his family.
