Sam Kennedy

Samuel "Sam" W. Kennedy, 24, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, January 13, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Faith Christian Outreach Church, with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Friends may sign the register on Friday, January 17, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to the Iowa Donor Network. Born November 30, 1989, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Samuel Williams was the son of Daniel M. and Lisa K. (Williams) Kennedy. Sam was in the Mt. Pleasant Community High School graduating class of 2008. He was currently employed by Hummel Construction. An early riser who loved the morning, Sam liked hiking and wildlife and especially appreciated watching hawks and bald eagles. Because of his love of music, he spent many hours jamming with his friends. Playing the bass guitar was his specialty, although he could play numerous instruments. He was also a gifted artist. Sam's family include his father, Dan Kennedy; mother, Lisa Caux; and sister, Katlin Kennedy, all of Mt. Pleasant, IA. He is also survived by a grandmother, Lilian Williams of Hastings, MI; uncles and aunts, Doug (Barb) Kennedy, Denise (John) McCormick, Dave (Teresa) Kennedy, Timothy (Gail) Williams, and Bronwyn (David) Hain, along with numerous cousins and friends. Preceding Sam in death were his grandparents, John Williams and Bob and Bev Kennedy, and a cousin, Brian Ball.
