Williamsburg- Ruth Eloise Stout was born March 10, 1924, in Panora, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Lee and Helen (Burgess) Walker. She graduated from Burlington High School. She went on to receive secretarial training and worked as a secretary for the Iowa Employment Security Commission office for 34 years. Ruth married William Lane Stout on March 17, 1944, in Mediapolis, Iowa. She grew up in the Burlington community, lived in Des Moines after she married and moved to Williamsburg in 2000. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Disabled Veterans. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, arts and crafts and watching the Cubs. Ruth died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg, at the age of 88 years. She is survived by 2 children: Nancy Prizant (Ed Truslow) and Ralph (Liz) Stout all of Des Moines; 3 grandchildren: Lisa McMillin, Kelly McNulty and Douglas Stout; 2 step grandchildren: Jill Crees and Brian Truslow; 4 great grandchildren: Sidney McMillin, Stuart McMillin, Jake Stout and Phillip Stout; 5 step great grandchildren: Emily, Foss, Griffin Truslow, Sadie and Charlie Crees; a great great grandson: Bently Stout; a sister: Marjorie Nelson of Mediapolis and a brother: Robert Walker of North Webster, IN. She was preceded by her parents; husband in 1954; a brother LeRoy Walker, a sister Kathryn Hemphill and a grandson Rick Stout. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Pastor Gary Van Heuklon will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in the Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis. A memorial fund has been established for the Highland Ridge Benevolent Fund, Disabled American Veterans or the Alzheimer's Association.
