WEBSTER-Ruth Snakenberg, age 91, of Webster, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at the English Valley Care Center in North English, following a brief illness. Ruth was born February 29, 1916, in Adams Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, to Sidney and Alta (Himler) Axmear and graduated from North English High School. On January 24, 1935 she married Kenneth Snakenberg in Sigourney. The couple farmed for many years near North English and Webster before moving to Webster. Ruth also worked at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney for several years. She was a member of the Webster WSCS. Survivors include her son: Lyle Gene Snakenberg of Sigourney; two grandchildren: Mary Jean Goeldner and husband Dale of Chandler, Arizona and Bradley Snakenberg and wife Stacey of Olathe, Kansas; five great grandchildren: Justin, Sean and Katie Goeldner and Hannah and Alexis Snakenberg and one brother: Norman Axmear of North English. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Kenneth in 2005; daughter-in-law: Marietta and sister: Lucille Axmear. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be at Sorden Cemetery near Webster. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007, at the funeral chapel. A memorial fund has been established for the Webster United Methodist Church, South English QRS or Iowa City Hospice. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Servie in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
