Williamsburg-Ruth J. Sandersfeld was born May 4, 1919 near Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of Basil and Frieda (Schuermann) Zuber. She attended St. John's Parochial School. Ruth was united in marriage to Elmer Sandersfeld on February 2, 1941 at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. The couple lived and farmed in the rural Homestead area until moving to Williamsburg in 1973. Ruth worked for Colony Village Restaurant for a number years until retiring 2001. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and enjoyed playing cards going for walks and spending time with friend talking and eating out. Ruth died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at her home in Williamsburg after a sudden illness at the age of 89 years. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephew. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1978; a brother: Eugene Zuber and four sisters: Lydia Olson, Hildegard Stohlmann, Norma Rudin and Erna Wardenburg. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery. Pastor Wayne Woolery will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the St. John Lutheran Church.
