Ruth Klingensmith, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Creston, IA died Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Park Place Long Term Care Unit. Open visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15th from 12:00-6:00 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Phung celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Creston, IA. Memorials have been established to Park Place Long Term Care Unit. Born December 25, 1932 in Creston, IA, Ruth Darlene was the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Jackson) Wright. She received her education at Covenant of Sacred Heart in St. Joseph, MO and graduated from there. In 1951 she married Frank Silone. They later divorced. On March 19, 1982 she married Carl Klingensmith in Creston. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2006. Ruth worked at Easters Super Valu in Creston, and retired from there in 2002. She moved to Mt. Pleasant in 2003 where she has since resided. Mrs. Klingensmith was of the Catholic faith. An avid reader, Ruth especially enjoyed reading history on World War II. Ruth and her husband, Carl, raised two of their granddaughters, Brenda and Cheryl Landry, after the death of their mother, Becky. Ruth is survived by a step-daughter, Ann Klingensmith and her husband, Bob Watt, of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Darlene (Jack) Merrifield of Yellville, AR; two sons, Frank Silone and Paul (Lasini) Silone all of Seattle, WA; one brother, Bud Wright of Nebraska; twelve grandchildren; one step-granddaughter, Erin Watt of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death, were her parents; her husband, Carl; two daughters, Becky Landry and Rose Hansen; and a granddaughter, Michelle Landry.
