Ruth Irene McArtor, 92, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A public graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 12, 2013, at the North English Cemetery in North English. Visitation will be at the Powell Funeral Home, North English on Friday, April 12, 2013, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. Ruth Irene McArtor was born on December 6, 1920, near North English, Iowa, a daughter of Grant Lester and Sadie May Hopwood Wetherell, She grew up and lived in the North English area, graduating from North English High School in 1938. Ruth was a member of the North English Christian Church. Ruth was married to Wayne Earl McArtor on May 8, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ruth worked as a painter and paper hanger for 48 years. Wayne preceded her in death in August 1999. She loved to fish, watch the Iowa Hawkeyes and play pepper with the card club. She is survived by three sons: Larry (Coleen) McArtor of Williamsburg, IA; Richard McArtor of North English, IA; Charles McArtor of Iowa City, IA; 4 grandchildren: Joleen (Todd) Roorda, Jason (Renee) McArtor, Heather Baumhauer, Chad Dennler; step grandchildren Jeff Buck and Sheridan Penney; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Beverly McArtor in infancy in March, 1941 and Kathy Buck in April 2007, an infant brother, and brothers Lester and Gayle Wetherell; sister, Mabel Provin and daughter-in-law, Carol (Kleinmeyer) McArtor.
