Rusty Allen Van Voltenburg

Wellman-Rusty Allen Van Voltenburg was born January 8, 1979, in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of Ronald and Sharon (Dayton) Van Voltenburg. He graduated from English Valley High School in 1998. Rusty has worked at Roberts Fiberglass in Wellman and other odd jobs around the area. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with family, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa State Cyclones, playing the guitar and going for walks. He attended the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington. Rusty died Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, at the age of 45 years.

He is survived by his parents; four siblings, Christina (Michael) Boos of West Chester, Jason (Misty Gingerich) Van Voltenburg, Rebecca (Randy) Crady all of Grinnell and Debbie Van Voltenburg of Keota; four children, Lily Van Voltenburg of Sigourney, Lea, Lydia and Memphis Van Voltenburg all of Thornburg. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ralph and Pearl Van Voltenburg, cousin Chad Van Voltenburg and a number of aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life service will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman.
