Rudy D. Miller was born December 14, 1924 in rural Kalona, Iowa the son of Dennis J. and Ida (Helmuth) Miller. He accepted Christ in his youth and was a faithful member of the Old Order Amish Church, where he was ordained Minister on April 26, 1981, and then ordained Bishop on May 6, 1984. On December 28, 1950 he was united in marriage to Mary Schrock near Kalona. Rudy died on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 15 days. Rudy is survived by 2 sons - Marlin Dale (Edith) Miller of Kalona; Evan Eugene Miller of Kalona; 7 grandchildren - Lamar Miller, Nita Miller, Sharon (Edwin) Miller, Twila Miller, Gareth (Diane) Miller, Lonnie Miller, Rhonda Miller; a great granddaughter Janice Elaine Miller; 6 sisters - Emma Swartzentruber of Costa Rica; Mary D. Miller of Kalona, Bertha Brenneman of Kalona, Eunice Stutzman of Keota, Lovina Hochstedler of Grand Lake, MI, Elsie Miller of Kalona; and 39 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a granddaughter Angela Faith Miller; 2 brothers Simon and Jonas; and 2 sisters Verna Weaver and Amelia Miller. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Miller family home in rural Kalona. Minister in charge is Milford Miller. Burial will be in the Peter Miller Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and will continue all day on Wednesday at the Miller family home.
