Williamsburg- Ruby Luella Humphrey was born February 5, 1922, in rural North English, Iowa. She was the daughter of Floyd and Edna (Miller) Davis. She attended North English schools and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1940. She lived in Iowa County throughout her lifetime. Ruby married Dean Paul Humphrey on February 16, 1941 in Sigourney, Iowa. She helped Dean on the farm, was a cook for Millersburg schools and worked as a one on one coordinator at the Iowa County Care Facility. Ruby was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church, Millersburg, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. She was co-founder of the Neighborhood Coffee Club. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, sewing and baking, especially pies. Ruby died on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg, at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her husband Dean of Williamsburg, 2 daughters: Deanna (Ken) Boeke of Mooresville, IN and SuzAnne Boyle of Cedar Rapids; a special niece Nancy Swain of Williamsburg; 15 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law: Kay Davis of Fairfield and Edith Humphrey of North English. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a special nephew David Byram; 2 sisters: Etta Young and Elva Niman; 2 brothers: Mevin Davis and Vaughn Davis (infant); Sons-in-law: Ed Boyle and Lloyd Swain. Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Millersburg United Methodist Church, Millersburg. Burial will be in the Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River. Rev. Michelle Williamson will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Millersburg United Methodist Church. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
