Ruby Jean Cavanaugh was born on February 27, 1927 in Washington, IA a daughter of Lee and Nita Bell Small. Nita was later married to Charles Hohenshell and Ruby was adopted by Charles. She grew up in the North English community and attended North English High School. She was a member of the North English Christian Church. Ruby married Ralph Earl Cavanaugh on December 27, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, IA. They made their home in North English where they loved to fish, play cards and enjoy their family. Ruby worked 15 years at Oral B in Iowa City, IA, retiring in 1983 because of health reasons. Ruby lived 79 years, 2 months and 8 days. She is survived by a daughter Pam Schiel (David) of Cedar Rapids, IA; three sons: Randy Cavanaugh of Sigourney, IA; Rick Cavanaugh(Anita) of North Liberty, IA; and Jody Cavanaugh (Tabitha) of Dunlap, TN; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two sisters: Shirley Van Patten of Davenport, IA and Sharon Schwertfleger of Fairfax, IA. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Tanna Lee Losey, her husband in June 1985, a granddaughter Shari Lynn Wallerich, and a brother David Hohenshell.
