Rose Marie Adam was born February 27, 1931, near Keota, Iowa the daughter of Glenn E. and Gayle Alice (Ginther) Cupp. She graduated from Keota High School, and attended Business College in Davenport. On August 2, 1951 Rosie was united in marriage to Vernon F. "Bud" Adam at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. The couple made their home east of Wellman in 1957. Rosie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she led rosary for 17 years, enjoyed church activities and helped with meals on wheels. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, painting, gardening, quilting, knitting and crocheting. Rosie died Thursday, April 17, 2014 with her family by her side at Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 83 years. Rosie is survived by her seven children: Jim (Cindy) Adam of Kalona, Mary Kay (Amos) Borntreger of Sarasota, FL, Kenneth (Vicki) Adam of Kalona, Sandra (Rodney) Joseph of Williamsburg, David (Susan) Adam of Kalona, Jeff (Jennifer) Adam of Iowa City and Nick Adam of Wellman, 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Maxine Houseal of Wellman, Betty Jacobs of Marshalltown and Connie Mangold of Wapello. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon in 1997, a sister Shirley Peiffer and an infant grandson of Kenneth and Vicki. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wellman. Fr. David Brownfield will officiate. Burial will be held in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 PM with the family present from 4-8 pm at Yoder -Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A prayer service will be held at 4 pm. A memorial fund has been established for St. Joseph Catholic Church sound system or Iowa City Hospice. Messages may be sent to the family at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
