Webster- Roscoe Edward Lee was born February 17, 1927 near Kinross, Iowa the son of Ben & Myrtle (May) Lee. He graduated from Kinross High School and later moved to a farm near Webster. Roscoe served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 20, 1959, he was united in marriage to Helen Joan Snakenberg in Sigourney. Roscoe was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church, served on the Webster City Council and was a former volunteer fireman for the Webster Fire Department. He enjoyed going to auctions and the What Cheer Flea Market and collecting antiques. Roscoe died on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Washington County Hospital, Washington at the age of 87 years.
He is survived by two sons: Bryan (Valerie) Lee of Webster and Kevin Lee of Chandler, Arizona; five grandchildren: Zachary (Deb Bogart), Jason (fiance Megan Lehman), April, Ben & Giselle Lee; a great granddaughter Sophie; a brother Harold (Evelyn) Lee of Webster. He was preceded by his parents; wife Helen; two brothers Francis and Woodrow Lee; and two sisters Anna Frits and Grace Sondag.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 AM on Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Webster United Methodist Church, Webster. Rev. John Tunnicliff will officiate. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery, South English with Military Rites. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, North English. A memorial fund has been established for the Webster United Methodist Church and the North Keokuk County Fire Department. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
