Ronnie Lee Binney, age 63, of Amana, died Monday, January 2, 2017, at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Alan Trumpold officiating. Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Middle Amana Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Ronnie is survived by a son Elijah; two daughters Elizabeth (Adam) Olson and Crystal Binney; and four grandchildren Canan, Ava, Emily and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sharron and two brothers.
Ronnie Binney was born June 5, 1953, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Richard Binney and Jessie Craig Binney. He grew up in Fishlake, Indiana. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army and later married Joanna Hemphill. Together, they lived in Kentucky and owned and operated their computer fixing business. The couple later divorced. Ronnie liked to fix and tinker with various items, grilling, and reading the Bible. He spent much of his quiet time writing poetry in which he won an award in 2014. He also enjoyed singing bluegrass and gospel music.
