Ronald Eugene Septer, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died, Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at his home. A visitation will be held from 12-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, 100 E Webster Street, with Pastor Regan Stoops officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established to First Baptist Church. Born September 29, 1946 in Hillsboro, IA, Ron was the son of Lloyd and Doris Williamson Septer. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1965. He earned his drafting degree from LaSalle College. On July 24, 1966, he married Judith Ellen Scarff in Mt. Pleasant. He served his country for 21-1/2 years in the United States Army and the Air National Guard. From 1965-1979, Ron worked at Heatilator. The family moved to Wyoming where he worked with Worldwide Construction doing drafting for a new refinery in southern Colorado. He also worked at AMF Wyatt as a draftsman and at the Laramie County School District in Cheyenne, WY as a custodian. Moving back to Mt. Pleasant in 1993, he returned to work at Heatilator, and he retired in 1998 due to a disability. While living in Wyoming, Ron was involved in scouts as a den leader for Cub Scouts and Webelos, and an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scouts. He was active in the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees during the 1970's. An active member of First Baptist Church, Ron was a deacon, taught Sunday school, and was a Pioneer Club teacher. Favorite hobbies included writing poems, drafting, drawing and fishing. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Cindy (Dean Eddington) Clancy of Carman, IL and Kayleigh Septer of Mt. Pleasant; a son, David (Brenda) Septer of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Liam Clancy and Abbie Septer; and three sisters, Earnestine Harvey and Retha Sammons both of Salem, and Janice (Jim) Miller of Fulton, MO. Preceding him in death are his parents; a brother, Earnest Septer; and a sister Ruth Septer in infancy.
