SIGOURNEY-Ronald Eugene Lippard, age 80, of Marshalltown, formerly of Sigourney, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Ronald was born April 11, 1932, near Keswick, to Ernest and Josephine (Koch) Lippard and attended Sigourney schools. Ronald served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 until 1954, during the Korean Conflict. On June 13, 1953, he married Velda Mae Veach at the Sigourney Christian Church. Following marriage the couple lived in California, then returned to Sigourney when he was discharged from the Marine Corps. Ronald was a carpenter with Conner Brothers for many years, then opened "Lippard's Cabinet Shop" until his retirement. He loved spending time fishing and hunting. Survivors include four sons: Steve Lippard and wife Cathy of Sigourney, Rick Lippard and wife Carol of Ames, Don Lippard and wife Irene of Mesa, Arizona and Ron Lippard and wife Pennie of Menifee, California; seven grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister: Lucy Freed of Golden Valley, Arizona and brother: Jim Lippard of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Velda in 2000 and three brothers: Gus, Charles and Darrell. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established.
