Ronald C. Kilbourn, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at the Henry County Health Center. Visitation for Ron will be held on Friday, October 13, 2006, beginning after 12 noon, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening, during which time there will be a Christian Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8:00 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Adam officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Henry County Dialysis Unit and Heartland Family Service of Omaha, NE. The son of William and Grace Conor Kilbourn, Ron was born on November 30, 1919, near Lowell, IA. He graduated from New London High School. During World War II he was stationed in Iceland and served in the Army Air Corps. Ron married Margaret Ryan in Phoenix, AZ. She preceded him in death in 1953. In 1955, he married Marian Krogmeier, who preceded him in death in 1980. Ron married Caroline Clements Herr in 1988. She survives. Ron was a farmer and lived on the farm homestead north of Mt. Pleasant until his death. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, serving as a trustee for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a 3rd degree Grand Knight and a 4th degree Faithful Navigator. Ron enjoyed cooking. For many years he cooked chicken for the church tent at Midwest Old Threshers. His grandchildren especially liked his spaghetti and brownies. He also enjoyed gardening, golfing, square dancing and playing cards with family and friends. Along with his wife, Caroline, Ron is survived by three sons, Peter Kilbourn and his wife Jill of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Randy Kilbourn and his wife Deborah of Washington, IA, and Mark Krogmeier and his wife Linda of Sperry, IA; one daughter, Mary Carolyn and her husband Harry Thiele of Omaha, NE; three step-sons, David Herr and his wife Lori of Springfield, MO, Bryan Herr and his wife DeLinda of Houston, TX, and Joel Herr and his wife Deanne of Newton, IA; two step-daughters, Monica Hadley of Fairfield, IA, and Anne and her husband Dan Lamansky of Brighton, IA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and eleven step-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by two wives, one stillborn son, and two brothers, Glenn Kilbourn and Orville Kilbourn.
