Williamsburg- Ronald Gene Gahring of Newnan Georgia formerly of Williamsburg, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan Georgia after a long illness at the age of 66 years. Ronald Gene Gahring was born May 23, 1942 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Dwight A. and Ruth (Kleinmeyer) Gahring. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1960. Ron was united in marriage to Myra Gray on March 13, 1961 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. After their marriage Ron went into the Army, the couple lived in Ft. Benning GA, Ft.Scoffield Hawaii returning to Williamsburg then Arizona, before coming back to Williamsburg in 1968. In 1986 they moved to Georgia. Ron worked in construction doing drudging work. He was very interested in history from the Bible to the Civil War. Ron was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Ron is survived by his wife Myra; three sons: Doug (Kerilee) Gahring and Tim (Mary) Gahring all of Newnan, GA and John (Lynn) Gahring of Homestead; his mother: Ruth Gahring of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren: Tyler and Kyle Gahring, Derek and Courtney Gahring, Logan, Grayson and Abbie Gahring; three brothers: Donald (Barb) Gahring of Texas, Bill (Melaine) Gahring of Dawson, GA and Dale ( Barbara) Gahring of Williamsburg; a sister: Susan (Steve) Ahrens of Conroy; father-in-law: Don Gray of Clarinda and a sister-in-law: Jane Blair of Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father in 1992, a infant sister: Linda Gahring and a brother-in-law: Ed Blair. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Burial will be at a later date.
