Ronald DeYarman

Ronald "Ron" K. DeYarman, 77, formerly of Olds, IA passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, at Henry County Health Center. The family will receive friends from 9-10:30 a.m. on, Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the Faith Christian Outreach Church. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Gary Van Nyhuis officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family to be determined later. Interment will be at Wayne Township Cemetery. Born July 10, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Ronald Kyle was the son of Curtis Blaine and Lydia Lucille (Miller) DeYarman. He attended Olds High School. In 1954 he married Janet Louise Miller. The couple later divorced. On August 25, 1974, he married Aleita Maureen (Linder) Gibbs in Morning Sun at the United Methodist Church. The couple resided in the Olds area until 2010 when they moved to Kalona. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2013. Ron was a devoted lifelong farmer. When not farming, he was an independent over the road truck driver. He was known as being a very inventive hard worker who could fix anything. He had a great heart and was available to any neighbor or friend who needed help. A member of Faith Christian Outreach Church, Ron formerly served as head usher. He was the former mayor of Olds for 13 years. He was an avid fisherman, and he loved to dance. During his days at Olds High School, he played many sports. Survivors include five daughters, Cindy Miller of Iowa City, IA, Kathy (Paul) Mulkey of Hobbs, NM, Tammy (Neil) Smith, Lisa (Dave) Oetken, and Tina (Timothy) Hill all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two sons, Randy (Jill) DeYarman of Cedar Rapids, IA and Doug (Tammy) DeYarman of Urbandale, IA; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Tom (Karin) DeYarman of Pueblo, CO, Bob (Gerry) DeYarman Toledo, OH, Jim (Shawna) DeYarman of San Diego, CA, and Gary (Jane) DeYarman of Poway, CA. Preceding Ron in death are his parents; and his two wives.
