Ronald Dean Hurst

Ronald Dean Hurst, age 66, of Brooklyn, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Grinnell Regional Hospital, Grinnell. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2021 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.

Ronald is survived by his wife Angela, of 42 years; four children Tracy Hurst (Rick Wilson), of Brooklyn, Rick (Emily) Hurst, of Brooklyn, Chris (Nikki) Hurst, of Brooklyn, and Bub (Morgan) Hurst, of Grinnell; nine grandchildren Ava, Kieran, Alivia, Alayna, Adelyn, Amariana, Ariella, Collins and Jonah; a brother Monte (Pam) Hurst, of Montana; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin Steve (Penny) Nagel, of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, an Aunt Kay, a sister, Gloria Ellars, and his loyal companion Sam.

Ronald was born September 28, 1954, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Garold and Mary Sue (Malone) Hurst. He grew up in California and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1973, in LaPalma, California. Ronald married Angela Acheson in Las Vegas in 1979. The couple moved to Iowa in 1991. He drove a truck for Manatt’s until he retired in 2000 due to health issues. Ronald took care of the Brooklyn brush pile and the Brooklyn school cross walk. He enjoyed woodworking and watching his boys race. Ronald loved spending time with his family.
