KEOTA-Roger Westendorf, age 61, of Keota, died Saturday, November 6, 2010, at his home in Keota. Roger was born March 9, 1949, in Waverly, Iowa, to Leo and Dorothy (Testorff) Westendorf and graduated from Waverly High School in 1967. On August 28, 1971, he married Laura Jane Klein in Keota. Roger worked for Carnation in Waverly, farmed, had a painting business, restored antique furniture, owned Roger's Market and drove for Big Man Express. He was an active member of the United Church of Faith, served on the Keota Fire Department many years and was a Keota City Council member and Mayor. Roger was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife: Janie of Keota; four children: Scott (Cherie) Westendorf of Keota, Lori (Dennis) Hammes of Sigourney, Kristin Westendorf of Kansas City, Missouri and Eric Westendorf of Keota; grandson: Anthony Westendorf and five siblings: Bill (Dode) Westendorf of Waverly, Jim (Kay) Westendorf of Forth Worth, Texas, Shirley Kroepel of Centralia, Illinois, Jan (Judd) Kolka of Anaheim, California and Mary Jo (Gary) Kramer of Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Betty Sedlacek. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Rev. Dennis Hopes officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010, at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the United Church of Faith.
