CONROY- Roger William McClure was born Sunday, January 31, 1937, in Grinnell, Iowa the son of Raymond and Edna Bowman McClure. He attended school near Malcom and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1954. Roger was united in marriage to Donna Pugh in Grinnell. They later divorced. He married Carolyne VerBeek on June 30, 1998 in Decorah. Roger lived most of his life in Malcom and Montezuma, Iowa and in Arizona before moving to Conroy in August of 2000. He worked in equipment sales and was currently employed by Quad County Implement in Blairstown. Roger is a former member of the Jaycees, Lions Club and attended Harvest Baptist Church. He enjoyed visiting and being around people. Roger died on Friday, January 14, 2005 in Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell after a brief illness at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 14 days. Roger is survived by his wife Carolyne of Conroy; four children: Craig McClure of Grinnell, Melanie McClure of Sun City, Arizona, Donna (Kevin) Ray of Montezuma and James (Lynne) McClure of Phoenix, Arizona; two step children: Michelle (Don) Ryan of Chelsea and Michael (Lisa) Huff of Montezuma; five grandchildren: Amanda, Deidra, Dana, Hunter and Kaitlin; three step grandchildren: Kelly, Kristy and Ashlyn; a brother: Robert (Sally) McClure of Columbia, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Mac McClure. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2005 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg with Pastor John Sauser officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom, Iowa. Memorials are for the Harvest Baptist Church.
