Rodney David Dumont was born October 30, 1972 in Washington, Iowa, the son of David and Linda (Sobaski) Dumont. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1991. On September 8, 2001 Rodney was united in marriage to Christina Ulin at Lake Iowa, and later divorced. He has lived in the Wellman area his entire life where he had an excavating and auto recycling business, and was a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, working in his shop and camping. Rodney passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home in Wellman at the age of 44 years.
Rodney is survived by his mother Linda (Doc) Weber of Kalona; father David Dumont of Wellman, two siblings: Jason (Suzanne) Dumont of Solon and Jody (Torrey) Gingerich of Riverside; and seven nieces and nephews: Shelby, Greyson, Hayden and Gentry Dumont; Grady, Landry and Elsey Gingerich. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Robert and Eleanor Sobaski and Elmer and Verna Dumont.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, Iowa. Rev. Charles Fladung will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemeteries-St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 from 2:30 to 7:00 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona, with a Rosary at 2:00 PM and Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. A general memorial fund has been established. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home is caring for Rodney and his family.
