Roberta Goodwin

WELLMAN - Roberta Ann Goodwin was born July 3, 1932 in Washington County, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle (Huber) Redlinger. On August 26, 1951 Roberta was united in marriage to Vernie Ray Goodwin at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Wellman. She worked as a nanny in Chicago, the Tiny Diner and Maple Crest in Wellman and Oral B in Iowa City, before retiring due to health. Roberta enjoyed cooking, baking, family and friends. The "welcome mat" was always out to enjoy a cup of coffee with her amazing pies or donuts. Roberta passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Halcyon House in Washington at the age of 84 years.

Roberta is survived by two daughters: Rhonda (Rick) Wilkens of Clive and Renita (Donald) Bayliss of Wellman; 5 grandchildren: Heidi (Matt) Lenaghan, Steven, Jonathon and Rachel Wilkens, and Austin (Kelsey) Bayliss; 3 great grandchildren: Rex and Cole Lenaghan, Bristen Bayliss; and a brother Gary "Tex" Redlinger of Wellman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernie in 1997, 2 grandchildren Kathryn Wilkens and David Wilkens, and a brother Rodney Redlinger.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Pastor Maureen Howard will officiate. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County and Lending Hands.
