Williamsburg-Robert (Bob) Willard Golden died Monday, August 1, 2005, at the Comfort House in Pella after an extended battle with cancer at the age of 77 years. Bob was born October 13, 1927 in Kewanee, IL, the son of Pearl and Lois (Bredt) Golden. He graduated from the Wethersfield High School in 1945. He enlisted in the Army in 1946, served in Korea and honorably discharged in 1947. He graduated from Illinois State University in 1951. Bob was united in marriage to Betty Schlosser on August 27, 1950, in Pontiac, IL. The couple lived in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa, moving to the Williamsburg area in 1968. Bob worked for Land O' Lakes as an Ag Sales Representative retiring in 1985. He enjoyed gardening, working on his lawn and playing games and cards. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Alpha Tau Alpha Honorary Society and the Masonic Monmouth Lodge #37. He is survived by his wife Betty of rural Williamsburg; four children: Gregory (June) Golden of Kansas City, MO, Carol (Doug) Major of Pittsford, NY, Cheryl Golden of North Liberty, and Geoffrey (Brenda) Golden of Pella; six grandchildren: Matthew Golden and Mark (Stephanie) Golden all of Kansas City, Philip Major and Pamela Major both of Pittsford, Andrew Golden and Kyle Golden both of Williamsburg and two great grandsons: Thomas and Isaiah Golden, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2005 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Pastor James Parks will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery near Williamsburg. Visitation will be Thursday, August 4, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pella Hospice Comfort House in Pella or St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund in Williamsburg.
