North English- Robert Lee “Skip” Ayers died on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at his home in North English, at the age of 70 years.
North English- Robert Lee “Skip” Ayers was born July 19, 1952 in Washington, Iowa. He was a son of Robert Lee and Alice Josephine (Moore) Ayers. He grew up in the Wellman area and later moved to North English. On July 24, 1970, Skip was united in marriage to Sherry Kay Patrick, in Burlington, Iowa. He held many different jobs in the construction field over the years. Skip loved to fish and spent countless hours casting for the next big one.
Skip died on Thursday, February 23, 2023, of cancer at his home in North English. He was 70 years old.
He is survived by his wife Sherry of North English; a daughter Tina (Greg) Welsh of Williamsburg; a son Terry (Wendy) Ayers of North English; five grandchildren Hannah Haack currently living in Koblenz, Germany, Gabrielle (Kelton Bain) Ayers of Ottumwa, Noah (Rylie Timm) Haack of Williamsburg, Mia Ayers and Ty Ayers both of North English; six brothers and sisters Sandra Snow, Richard Ayers, Carolyn (Greg) Wolfer, Patty Hudson, Brett Ayers and Tracy Ayers; a brother-in-law Gordon Dietze Sr.; a sister-in-law Mary Lu Ayers; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Shirley Ayers and Trudy Dietze; and a brother Rick Ayers.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until service time at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
