KEOTA-Robert Paul McMains, age 79, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California. Robert was born September 11, 1926, in New Sharon, Iowa to Robert James and Anna Tillio McMains. He graduated from Keswick High School in 1944 and served in the Army Air Corps from September 1946 through December 1947. On September 1, 1956, he married his long time sweet-heart Marjorie Greiner, of Keota, in Los Angeles where they made their home in Hawthorne for 35 years. They had two children, a daughter Deborah and a son Curt. Robert worked for 32 years as an engineer at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, California, from which he retired in December of 1989. In 1992 Robert and Marjorie moved to San Clemente where they lived for 11 years. He spent the last three years living with his daughter Deborah and family in Torrance. Robert enjoyed going to church, quality time with his family and friends, good food, sports, music electronics and carpentry. He was a deeply caring person with a great sense of humor who will always be remembered by all, as a genuinely loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Robert is survived by his daughter Deborah Overbey, her husband Jay, and their four children; Danielle, Ryan, Garrett and Jordan of Torrance, California; his son Robert "Curtis" McMains, his wife Lisa and their daughter Rachel of Irvine, California and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Marjorie in 2000; three sisters: Zelma, Grace and Phyllis and two brothers: Bill and Ernie. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2006, at the Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Cemetery in Keota with military rites by the Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
