Robert L Anderson, Sr.

Robert L. Anderson, Sr. 63, of Salem, IA, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, July 26, 2019.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 29th at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gordon Hawkins officiating. According to Bobs wishes, please wear casual or car racing attire to his visitation and funeral. Interment will be in the Grant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kim Anderson.

Born June 12, 1956, in Pueblo, CO, Robert Lee was the son of Larry and Audrey (Groves) Anderson. Bobs father, Larry later married Joan (Livingston) who maintained a special relationship with Bob throughout his lifetime. At age 7, Bob moved to Salem, IA to live with Les and Mable Black where he helped with the family farm which created a lifetime interest in farming. After completing school at Mt. Pleasant in 1974, he was legally adopted by Les Black.

On August 6, 1976, Bob was united in marriage to Patricia Oberhauser in LaPorte City, IA. They later divorced. On December 28, 2005, Bob married Kimberly Killeen in Hillsboro, IA. For 41 years, Bob worked as a track inspector for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 2016. After retirement, Bob and Kim became snowbirds, enjoying their winters in Florida.Bob enjoyed attending dirt track races, especially watching late models. He also liked to fish, hunt, rebuild salvaged cars, spend time with his family, and spoil his grandkids.

Along with his wife, Kim, Bob is survived by one daughter, Christal (Robert) Davis of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one son, Robert Jr. (Amanda) Anderson of Hillsboro, IA; one stepdaughter, Ashley Ohrtman of Newell, IA; ten grandchildren, Brittanie, Gillian, Abbigail, Adrianna, Zoey, Davey, Robert III, Samuel, Johnny, and Emmett; four siblings, Janice Anderson of Aurora, CO, David Anderson of Aurora, CO, Larry Anderson Jr. of Englewood, CO, and Renee Anderson of Englewood, CO; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a slew of friends.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents; a brother Mike Anderson; and a stepson, Jon Ohrtman.
