Williamsburg-Robert "Bob" Henry Peters was born October 21, 1932 in Little Rock, Iowa, the son of Henry and Tena (Dykhouse) Peters. He graduated from Little Rock Public School. Bob served in the United States Army in Korea from 1953 - 1955. Bob was united in marriage to Karen Kae Kroese on January 22, 1964 at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn, Iowa. They lived in Little Rock after their marriage until 1969 when they moved to Williamsburg. He had worked at Amana Refrigeration, Farm Service and Iowa County Farm Service from 1983 until retiring in 1994. Bob enjoyed playing cards, watching Hawkeye Sports, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. A highlight of his later years was going on the Honor Flight in 2015. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church were he served as an elder and deacon. He also was a member of the Iburg Poulson VFW Post #8797 and the American Legion Post #228 all in Williamsburg. Bob passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport at the age of 85.
He is survived by his three children, Tim (Marlys) Peters of Shellsburg, Tammy (Tim Shivers) Sinn of Sachse, Texas and Tom (Cathy) Peters of Conroy; four grandchildren, Codee (James) Bunting, Casey Peters, Luke Peters and Emma Peters; a sister, Leona Gustafson of Wausa, Nebraska and a special friend, Edna Sandberg of Williamsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Karen, two brothers, Russell and Denton Peters and two sisters, Lorraine Wiertsema and Linda Peters.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg, where there will be a VFW Service at 7:00 pm. Memorial are for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
