KEOTA - Robert G. Krause age 73, of Keota died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. Bob was born February 17, 1932, in Washington, Iowa, to Art and Ellen (Green) Krause. He attended school in Washington until the 8th grade and graduated from Keota High School. Bob then attended Iowa Wesleyan College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On August 2, 1952, he married Joeleen Paxson in Astoria, Oregon. Following marriage the couple lived up and down the west coast where Bob worked as a draftsman in the aircraft industry. They moved to Keota in 1984. For the last 14 years Bob played the saxophone in a dance band. Bob was a member of the Methodist Church in Keota and a former member of the Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. His greatest love was music. Survivors include his wife: Joeleen of Keota; three children: Nancy L. Hemphill of St. Petersburg, Florida, Joel R. Krause of Keota and Tamara L. McCormick of Iowa City; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two brothers: John R. Krause and Tom Krause, both of Seguin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the United Church of Faith in Keota with Pastor Sallie Graves officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery with military rites by the Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2005, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where the family will be present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given in Bob's name for a music scholarship. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
