KNOXVILLE-Robert E. Boehmler, age 85, of Knoxville, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, while farming in his field. Bob was born January 6, 1924, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, to Albert and Clara (Bailey) Boehmler. He grew up in Fayette County and graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in 1941. On March 7, 1945 he married Laura I. Hopper in Millinocket, Maine. The couple lived in New London, Connecticut before moving to Iowa in 1946. They then moved to Knoxville in 1964, where he owned and operated Bob's Heating and Air Conditioning. He attended New Covenant Church and was a member of the Baty-Tucker American Legion Post # 168 in Knoxville. Survivors include his wife: Laura of Knoxville; three children: Larry Boehmler and wife Arlene of Springfield, Vermont, Eric Boehmler and wife Carol of Sterling, Alaska and Bim Estapa and husband Don of Lynnville; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings: Thelma, Maxine, Clifford, Milford, Margaret and two in infancy. Memorial graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Breckenridge Cemetery in rural Knoxville on 186th Place. Rev. Jim Mead will officiate and Baty - Tucker American Legion Post # 168 will provide military rites. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established for the U.S.O.
