Robert "Bob" Lee Borders

Robert "Bob" Borders, 65, of West Point, IA, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Great River Medical Center surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held beginning at 12 noon to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1100 N Palm Avenue, Mt. Pleasant, IA. Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Keokuk Humane Society and the American Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born March 23, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Robert Lee was the son of Howard Darrell and Barbara Larue (Miller) Borders. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 1968. He then attended technical classes at various community colleges. In 1971 he married Delores Miller. They later divorced. He married Deborah Reynolds in 2005. Bob worked in the heating and air conditioning industry since the early 70's. He owned and operated Borders Heating and Air Conditioning in Keokuk, IA from 1978 until selling the business in 2001. He subsequently owned and operated Bob's Heating and Air Conditioning in West Point, IA until his death. Bob was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. An avid runner, Bob belonged to the Keokuk Running Club and frequently ran in the Bix 7. He was a strong supporter of the Republican Party and was a member of the National Rifle Association. His greatest love was his family and he adored his two dachshunds, Babie and Barbie. Survivors include his wife, Debbie of West Point, IA; four sons, Nathan (Cathy) Borders of Omaha, NE, Nick (Callie) Borders of Cedar Rapids, IA, Andrew (Katy) Borders of Oak Park, IL, and Adam (Melissa) Borders of Peoria, IL; fourteen grandchildren; two step-sons, Mark (Trisha) McDougall and Chris (Amy) McDougall all of Oskaloosa, IA; a brother, Eddie (Roberta) Borders of California; two sisters, Bev (Cort) Springer of New London, IA and Peggy (Richard) White of Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Borders of Mt.
