Richard Winston "Rick" Adrian, 61, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at his home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 13th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Herb Shafer officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Center Cemetery near Wayland, IA. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the American Lung Association. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Rick was born on June 7, 1951 in Des Moines, IA. The family moved to Davenport, IA where he graduated from Davenport Assumption High School in 1969. On December 3, 1971, he married Kathleen Mast in Washington, IA. Rick was a skilled tradesman and worked in many capacities as a plumber, carpenter, and electrician. He had been employed by the Davenport Water Company in Davenport, IA, and Mast Plumbing and Heating in Wayland, IA. He was the owner and operator of Rick's Corner Post in Wayland. Rick worked as a salesman for Miller Beauty Supply and Sysco Foods, and was the manager at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club. Active with his children's many activities, he coached Little League Baseball and Jr. High Football for WACO and High School Girl's Basketball for Winfield-Mt. Union. He served as a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Wayland Fire Department, and was a Wayland City Councilman. Rick was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. His hobbies included woodworking, bowling, golf and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Cole (Jaime) Adrian of Pella, IA and Chris (Kelli) Adrian of Dallas, TX; his mother, Ann (Robert) Grable of Davenport, IA; a brother, Michael (Susan) Hirl of Indianapolis, IN; and two grandchildren, Austin and Abbi Adrian of Pella, IA. Preceding Rick in death are his father, William Hirl and his grandparents.
