Richard P. "Pete" Cline, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Sunday, February 11, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Pete was born on January 19, 1941, in Pleasantville, IA, the son of Paul and Gladys Burnham Cline. He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1958 and attended Simpson College for one year. He also attended Southeastern Community College for two years earning a degree in welding. Mr. Cline worked at the Mental Health Institute and then was employed at Blue Bird Midwest beginning in 1961 until retiring as a welding inspector in 2002. Pete was a member of the Iowa National Guard for fourteen years. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, reading westerns and watching them on television. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs, Toddy and Dutchess II. Survivors include his wife, Rosie Wiggins of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one daughter Kimberly (Dan) Moffitt of Tulsa, OK; three sons Kevin (Mary) Cline of Grimes, IA, Kurt Cline of Fresno, CA, and Kendell Cline of Vancouver, WA; two step-sons Darrel Wiggins of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Neville (Missy) Wiggins of Keithsburg, IL; and four step-daughters Loriann Dains of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Tammy (Brian) Schultz of Rome, IA, Barbara (Emer) Carlson of Fairfield, IA, and Cheryl (Joe) Rich of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Also surviving is one sister Joan (Darwin) Brown of Indianola, IA; eight grandchildren, Anne Moffitt, Eric Moffitt, Seth Moffitt, Joel Moffitt, Jacob Cline, Jason Cline, Grace Cline and Alyson Cline; 17 step-grandchildren, Dakota Dains, Desiree Dains, RaeLee (Dan Maschmann) Wiggins, Ashley (Jordan Millard) Schultz, Trisha Schultz, Brandy (Josh) Coffin, Alisha McLain, Kolt Carlson, Austin Carlson, Cody Fett, Colten Fett, Cord Wiggins, Christopher Wiggins, Dannielle Wiggins, Necole Wiggins and Tanner Hunter. Additional survivors include seven step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Arden Cline, and one grandson Tyler Cline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Henry County Cancer Fund or to the American Heart Association. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pleasantville, IA, on Thursday, February 15, at 2:00 p.m.
