Richard Lisk

OSKALOOSA-Richard Lisk, age 82, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, March 21, 2025, at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa.

Richard was born December 17, 1942, in Oskaloosa, the son of Warren and Ione (Pope) Lisk and grew up around What Cheer. In January of 1962, he married Cathy Pierce. They had three children and later divorced. Richard was a mechanic at Bill and Ray’s in Sigourney for 15 years then worked in maintenance at the Super 8 in Centerville for seven years before his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Delta Saddle Club. He enjoyed showing, raising and breeding quarter horses.

Survivors include three children: Cindy (Bob) Martin of Oskaloosa, Rick (Cathy) Lisk of Indianola and Leanne (Tim) Kaufman of Hedrick; five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two sisters: Alice Chatfield of Fairfield and Deb (Dale) Bartholomew of Ollie. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Nell Davis and Wanita (Snook) Atkins and a brother Warren (Bub) Lisk.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Pastor Cyril McKay officiating. Burial will be at Tioga Cemetery in rural Rose Hill. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
