Richard Busby, age 66, of Kalona, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Parkview Manor in Wellman. Richard was born January 15, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee, to DeWitt and Dorothy (Martin) Busby and moved with his family to Arkansas as a child. On May 22, 2002, Richard married Nancy Palmer in Saddle, Arkansas. The couple moved to Minnesota in 2005 and then to Kalona in June of 2011. Richard attended Sunnyside Mennonite Church and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, gospel music, westerns and life in general. He had a great sense of humor. Survivors include his wife: Nancy Busby of Kalona; sister: Waudenna Agee and husband Frank of Mindenmines, Missouri; brother: Claude "Sandy" Busby of Jefferson City, Missouri; aunt: Laura Emerson and cousin: Sherry Borden, both of California; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Kalona with Pastor Floyd Yutzy officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Sunnyside Mennonite Church. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kalona is caring for Richard and his family.
