Richard J. Horesowsky

RICHMOND - Richard J. Horesowsky was born July 19, 1940, the son of Richard and Josephine (Lyons) Horesowsky Sr. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and Kalona High School. On March 5, 1962 Richard was united in marriage to Joanne Rummelhart at St Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Richard has lived in the Richmond community his entire life where worked at and later owned Horesowsky Body Shop. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Richard passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 75 years.
Richard is survived by his wife Joanne of Richmond; 4 children Lori (Jay) Schrock of Kalona; Jeff (Amy) Horesowsky of Wellman; Pat (Joan) Horesowsky of Kalona; Lisa (Rob) Stika of Iowa City; 12 grandchildren Renee (Jim) Thompson, Lindsey (Bret) Hochstetler, Jessica (Jordan) Yotty, Dylan Schrock, Justin (Natalie) Horesowsky, Alan Horesowsky, Kari Horesowsky, Erin Horesowsky, John Horesowsky, Bryan (Tara) Horesowsky, Jacob Stika, Tyler Stika; 4 great grandchildren Carter and Kailee Thompson, Olivia and Khloe Hochstetler; and 2 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence and Clara Rummelhart.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial will be at a later date in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Riverside. Visitation will be held from 2-8 PM on Friday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and a Vigil Service will be held at 2 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.
