Richard D. Droz, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014, at Park Place Elder Living. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16th at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff McPheron officiating. Inurnment will be in the White Oak Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the White Oak Cemetery. Born September 3, 1938, in rural Henry County, IA, Richard Dale was the son of Jack and Wilma Marie (Messer) Droz. He received his elementary education at the White Oak School and graduated in 1957 from Mt. Pleasant High School. Dick received his x-ray technician certification and license from Palmer College of Chiropractic. On February 4, 1961, he married RubyAlyn Maxwell in Monmouth, IL. The couple later divorced. Dick entered the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy at Camp Dodge, and also received certification through the Davenport Police Academy. Dick worked for the Mt. Pleasant Police Department for five and one-half years prior to joining the Davenport Police force. He later returned to Mt. Pleasant and became a Deputy Sheriff. In 1972 he became the Henry County Sheriff and served in that capacity for eight years. While in office, Dick implemented various programs such as Firearms Training for Women. When his term ended he left law enforcement and was engaged in farming for many years. Dick served six years in the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church and a former 32nd Degree Mason of the Davenport Masonic Lodge. Dick was a member of the Iowa Sheriffs and Deputies Association and the American Chiropractic Association. Survivors include his daughter, Dianna D. Faubel (Jerry) of Massillon, OH; two grandchildren, Richard Jubell of Massillon, OH and Jessica Wagner (Adam) of Edgerton, WI; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Alissa Wagner. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Melanie Elaine Faubel.
