Wellman- Richard R. "Dick" Brookhart was born September 2, 1936 in Letts, Iowa, the son of Archie R. And Mary R. (Willits) Brookhart. He graduated from Muscatine High School. Dick served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. Dick was united in marriage to Donna Fowler on June 19, 1960 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived in California, Nevada and Arizona before moving to Wellman in September of 1991. Dick worked 33 years for the US Government. He enjoyed working with wood in his shop, fishing and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Dick died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Pleasantview Home in Kalona after a six month illness at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his wife Donna of Wellman; a son: Kurt Brookhart (friend Paula Trevino) of Yuma, AZ; five grandchildren: Richard, Brittny, Brigette, Miranda and Mallory; a brother: Gene (Maria) Brookhart of Ainsworth; two sisters: Judy (Edward) Fry of Muscatine and Mary (Lawrence) Vine of Silvis, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Gary Brookhart. Celebration of Life Service will be11:00 am Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Wellman. Pastor Wayne Woolery will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman.
