Williamsburg-Richard Allan Zuber was born the son of Willard and Marjorie (Leahy) Zuber on March 11, 1945 near Homestead, Iowa. He attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Williamsburg High School. Dick was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Weisbrod on October 19, 1969 in Cedar Rapids. To this union they were blessed with three children. Dick was employed by Amana Refrigeration for many years, Comfort Inn at Little Amana and Alcoa in Williamsburg retiring in 2008. Being a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead he has served as an elder, trustee, financial secretary along with many other committees. He has also served as President of Lutheran Interparish School P.T.L. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, making wine, playing cards, gardening, watching the Green Bay Packers, Cubs and the Hawkeyes. His especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and farming with his brother Dale. Dick passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Colonial Manor in Amana at the age of 71 years.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Williamsburg; three children: Allan (Sandy) Zuber of Walford, Tricia Williams of Coggon and Kim (Ben) Hulseberg of Williamsburg; 7 grandchildren: Ashley and Courtney Zuber, Cassie and Logan Williams, Wes, Zoe and Wil Hulseberg; two brothers: Dale (Ruth) Zuber of Homestead and Larry (Fran) Zuber of North Liberty; three sisters: Karen Dirks of Scotch Grove, Kathy (Dave) Jones of Williamsburg and Marty Gahring of Albany, GA and his mother-in-law: Shirley Weisbrod of Emmetsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law: Max Dirks and father-in-law: Wally Weisbrod.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Thursday, August 18, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. Pastor Terry Small will officiate. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for St. John Lutheran Church or Essence of Life Hospice in Amana.
