Rhonda Sue Osweiler, was born on December 25, 1968, in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Robert W. and Marilyn Lou (Bickford) Osweiler. She grew up in the South English / Webster area. Rhonda was a 1987 graduate of English Valley High School, attended the University of Northern Iowa and later graduated from the University of Iowa.She had a love for cats and Mickey Mouse. She enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Rhonda died on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at her home in Iowa City, after a sudden illness. She lived 39 years and 25 days. She is survived by her father Robert Osweiler of Williamsburg; 5 brothers: Loras (Jane) of Conroy, Jeff (Margaret) of Webster, Tom of North Liberty, Kurt of Williamsburg and Scott of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 3 sisters: Becky (David) Hott of Johnston, Mary (James) Gent of Wellman and Colleen (Nathan) Johnston of North Liberty; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am on Thursday, January 24, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in North English. Father Pat Lumsden and Father David Wilkening will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, with a Wake Service at 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. A memorial fund has been established for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
