IOWA CITY - Rhoda Alverda Creamer was born June 10, 1943 in Kalona, Iowa the daughter of Ellsworth and Gladys (Simpson) Kelley. She graduated from City High School in Iowa City, and Kirkwood Community College. She lived in Dallas, Texas from 1962-1969, and she has lived in Iowa City since 1969. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital from 1976 - 2004, and was recently working for Gerling Home Health Care. On April 20, 1986 she was united in marriage to Robert W. Creamer in Nashua. Alverda was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose. Alverda died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at her home in Iowa City following a brief illness at the age of 66 years. Alverda is survived by a sister Martha Tomson of Morning Sun; 11 nieces and nephews; 21 great nieces and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews; and a special friend Rebecca Saunders of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; 3 sister's Betty Kelley, Carol Kelley, Kathline Harvey; and 2 brothers Harold and Darold Kelley. In accordance with Alverda's wishes her body has been cremated and there will be no services. Her remains will be buried in the Wellman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Moose Heart and the Holden Comprehensive Clinical Cancer Center. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman is in charge of the arrangements.
