Reverend Harold A. Dorsey, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.Visitation will begin after 12 noon, on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Salem Congregational Church with Pastor Aaron Helterbran officiating. Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery, with full military rites by the Henry County Honor Guard. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to the Salem Congregational Church or Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse Organization. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.Born in Ashton, MO, January 25, 1930, Harold was the son of Andrew and Edith Dorsey. He graduated from high school in Revere, MO., then served in the Army in Japan during the Korean conflict. After military service, he attended and graduated from Moody Bible Institute.Harold married Imogene Martha Bailey on July 23, 1977 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, IA. He pastored churches in Ohio and Iowa. For a time, he left the ministry and worked at Harper Brush in Fairfield, but returned to ministry spending his last years before retirement serving the Salem Congregational Church. Harold was passionate about every aspect of ministry and loved serving God. An active member of the Salem Congregational Church, Harold also belonged to the American Legion Simkin-Pidgeon Post 94 in Salem. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.Along with his wife, Imogene, of 39 years, Harold is survived by one daughter, Karen (Dave) Hamre of Ottumwa, IA; one son, Kim Dorsey of Alaska; two step-sons Robert (Eileen) Barnett of Salem, IA, and James Barnett of Rome, IA; one step-daughter, Judy Epperheimer of Yakima, WA; one brother, Gerald (Winona) of Bowling Green, MO; one sister Joan Mattocks of Springfield, MO; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.Harold was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
