Emanuel F. (Mac) Read was born May 17, 1925 in Parker, Indiana, the son of Gail Ferris and Osa Leota Booher Read. He graduated from Green Township High School in Parker and from Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served as an OSS Officer for the U.S Army in WWII. He was united in marriage to Joann (Jody) Wardenburg on November 30, 1956 in Homestead. She passed away March 28, 2000. Mac worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids until 1970, moving to Coral Springs Florida where he worked for McGraw - Edison at Ft. Lauderdale. He moved to Maquoketa in 1972 where he owned Read Electronics and Wady Industries. Mac holds many design patents. On April 26, 2003, Mac was united in marriage to Darlene Maas Weiss and lived in Williamsburg until his death. Mac died on Sunday, October 2, 2005 in the University Hospital in Iowa City of pancreatic cancer at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 15 days. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Williamsburg and the Iburg-Poulson VFW Post 8797 in Williamsburg. Mac is survived by his wife Darlene; two daughters: Cindy Ruchotzke and husband Dan of Rochester, Minnesota and Audrey Dahl and husband Larrie of Illinois City, Illinois; a son Ron Read of Maquoketa; 7 grandchildren & 2 great Grandchildren. Mac was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Jody. Celebration of Life Services are set for 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg with Pastor Carl Cloeter officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, is at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Uhlmann - Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Holden Cancer Center and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Casket Bearers are: Ryan & Jorday Ruchotzke, Tyler Jordan, Jed,Greg, Dan & David Dahl Organist is Peggy Wandenburg
