Raymond H. Kerr, 98, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation for Mr. Kerr will begin after 12 noon, on Monday, May 1, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant. Raymond was born on June 12, 1907, in Mt. Union, IA, to Leander and Pearl Harmison Kerr. He grew up in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1926. On September 4, 1935, he married Lusena Gilyeart in Mt. Pleasant. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2004. Following his marriage to Lusena, the couple moved to Winfield and farmed there for 15 years. In 1950, they moved back to Mt. Pleasant to farm Lusena's family farm, where Raymond has resided ever since. Raymond was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant. While living in Winfield, he joined the Masonic Lodge in Winfield and later became a 50 year member of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge #8 A.F and A.M., where he served as the Most Worshipful Master. He was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Kerr is survived by his son, Robert Kerr and his wife Roxane of Paragon, IN; a granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband Keith Kohorst of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two great-grandchildren Kieran and Keegan Kohorst of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and one brother, Dale Kerr and his wife Elizabeth of Danville, IA. Along with his wife, Mr. Kerr was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Delbert Kerr.
