Raymond Loyd Cobb, was born on May 7, 1917, in Tipton, Missouri, a son of Samuel and Nona (Petty) Cobb. He attended Yankee Point Country School, near North English, Iowa. On June 4, 1939, he was united in marriage to Dorthy V. Snare, near North English. She passed away in November 1981. On September 3, 1983, he was united in marriage to Donna Faas, at the Kinross Christian Church, in Kinross. He has lived in the North English and Kinross areas all of his life. He farmed and worked at Amana Refrigeration for 17 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching baseball, playing cards and most of all his family. Raymond died on Monday, September 29, 2008, at his home in Kinross after a long illness at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 22 days. He is survived by his wife Donna of Kinross; children: Treva ( Marvin) Middlekauff of Cedar Rapids, IA ; Tressa Slaubaugh of Cedar Rapids, IA; Milo (Mary) Cobb of Haslet, TX; Golda (Josh) Bringman of Kinross, IA; John Cobb of Cooper, TX; Ruth (Richard) Trier of Keota, IA; Kathy (Steve) Stoner of Kinross, IA; step-children: Kenneth Faas of North English, IA; Lewis (Kim) Faas of Batavia, IL ; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 half-brothers Milo (Nellie) Cobb of Vinton, IA and Glenn (Hazel) Cobb of North English, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents: wife Dorthy; brothers and sister: Estill Cobb, Edgar Cobb, Aline Wallace; a step-brother Harley "Pat" Carter: step-sister Viola Ballard; and a daughter-in-law Dianne Cobb. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the Kinross Christian Church in Kinross with Rev. Jim Bringman and Pastor Kirk Statler officiating. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service in North English, IA. Burial will be in Piersol Cemetery near North English.
