SIGOURNEY-Randy G. Miller, age 64, of Sigourney, died Saturday, March 23, 2019, at his home.
Randy was born December 1, 1954, in Charlotte, Michigan, to Ervin J. and Jennis (Hershberger) Miller. His family moved to rural Frytown when he was two. He graduated from Mid Prairie High School. On August 24, 1974 he married Jody Goodwin at the East Union Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. They lived in rural Frytown and Randy worked for Farmers Electric until they moved to Sigourney in 1981. He worked for TIP Rural Electric approximately 17 years and became an agent with Farm Bureau on December 1, 1997. He was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) and past president of the Iowa Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors for the regional chapter in Ottumwa. He was also a member of the Agents Association. His designations included LUTCF (Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow) and AFIS (Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist.) He and Jody sponsored the Farm Bureau Fun Run and the greased pig contest for many years, distributed fireman hats to elementary students during fire prevention week, sponsored volley pong for National Night Out and was involved in many other community activities.
Survivors include his wife: Jody of Sigourney; three children: Derrick (Amy) Miller of Davenport, Devin Miller of East Moline, Illinois and Darren (Michelle) Miller of New Lenox, Illinois; four grandchildren: Maggie, Abigail, Luke and Lucy and five siblings: Lola McAndrew of Iowa City, LaMar (Kenlyn) Miller of Muscatine, Coletta (Errol) Bontrager of Kalona, Janette Miller of Wellman and Byron Miller (Anna Powers) of Williamsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Sigourney United Methodist Church, with Rev. Shannon Pascual officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the church.

A memorial fund has been established for playground equipment at Legion Park in Sigourney. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Randy and his family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
